Many are familiar with her as the former gubernatorial candidate of Georgia, in which she came within 55,000 votes of winning the seat in 2018. Today we recognize Abrams’ work to build a network of organizations that expand voting rights and economic advancement to build a more equitable future for underserved communities. Through her efforts to highlight voter suppression in the state, she is widely credited with inspiring an estimated 800,000 new voter registrations in the state of Georgia.

This month we have been honored to highlight the many contributions from people of color, ranging from creators to politicians to sports figures to social justice advocates and more, who are making Black history happen as we speak. Black Lives Matter.
