About the role

We are looking for a Director of Social Strategy to create impactful, data-driven, and creative Social strategies to help move our clients’ businesses forward.

The Director of Social Strategy will play an integral role in the development and execution of Social approach and initiatives within omni channel campaigns. The Director will track technology trends, monitor and understand Social platform capabilities, and deeply understand consumer behavior to identify opportunities and cultivate impactful, distinguished Social media presence for our clients. The ideal candidate will ensure best practices are developed and implemented across all Social platforms and Social content. They will build and maintain relationships based on trust and thought leadership across all appropriate client levels, media partners, partner agencies, Social platforms and among agency departments. This candidate will concept, create, and present media and content strategies and integrated Social marketing campaigns that support the brand’s overall goals, and will be always on the lookout for new ways to connect with consumers.

What You Will Do

  • Be an inspiring and thought-provoking force to lead our teams and inspire your clients to think smarter about their businesses, categories and audiences, as well as how to best engage with consumers through existing and emerging social media platforms.
  • Maintain positive rapport with clients, colleagues, and industry partners, and help positively develop our “exciting and innovative agency” scores on client scorecards
  • Collaborate with internal functional teams (Creative, Paid Social, and Client Services) and clients to execute against a diverse set of high-priority Social initiatives
  • Develop inspiring creative briefs for Creative teams and agencies to ideate against; oversee the content creation process to ensure it remains on-strategy and leverages the latest tools and trends across key Social platforms
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to offer clients a more holistic understanding of audiences and Social media landscapes opportunities
  • Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with teammates to create materials that distill complex ideas into clear and concise decks, one-sheets, etc.
  • Provide Social strategy thought leadership for our clients, specifically on the role of social in an integrated marketing model
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and interest in the larger media landscape to understand and clearly communicate the role Social (Paid / Owned / Earned) plays within larger marketing strategies
  • Work with relevant clients to develop synergistic and complementary Paid strategies based on Owned and Earned content and activations
  • Maintain continuous cultural, digital and trend forecasting to inform client recommendations and to educate and motivate internal teams 
  • Have strong hands-on experience designing and distilling insights from both custom and syndicated resources and tools, as well as Social platform analytics
  • Demonstrate clear skill and ability in crafting Social performance data into thought-provoking and prescriptive optimization recommendations and audience / content strategies
  • Participate in and/or lead the interview process for new candidates

Who You Are

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Media Planning or Strategy (with at least 2-3 years of Social-specific experience required)
  • Some hands-on-keyboard Social experience is preferred, but not required
  • Strong presentation skills; excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill strategic insights out of various types of data
  • Strong leadership skills and experience developing a team of strategy professionals
  • At least 2-3 years of experience managing mid-senior level client relationships
  • Familiarity with marketing principles and problem solving (analytics is a great bonus)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong experience mining syndicated data (MRI, Simmons, Helixa, Google Trends)
  • Strong experience designing and analyzing custom research data
  • Experience working directly with Creative teams (internal, partner, or client)
